  1. Denise, I think overall your lesson was went well. I think you were a bit nervous at first, like we all were, but you seemed to overcome that quickly. The powerpoint was very effective when going over the rules for the apostrophe. It was harder than I remember and it did help out a lot. For some suggestions using the cards was agood but I would just paraphrase whats on them instead of reading directly from them. Use them to jog your memory and go from there. I also think a hand out of the rules would be a good idea too and not just on the power point just for reference. Great job!

  2. Denise, I think your lesson definitely reinforced an area of punctuation that seems to be difficult for many (even adults). I use the rules all the time, but I didn't really know how to classify them. Your presentation helped me with that. I also noticed that some of them are very tricky! I liked how you gave examples of each one, but I agree with Al's comment above. I feel as though a handout would have helped us to organize all these new rules. As a suggestion, I think it would have been a bit more engaging during the lecture portion had you asked a couple of students to give you an example of a sentence that they thought would fit into a specific category.Other than that, the handout was well-written, with sentences that ranged in difficultly.

I thought you did a great job overall. Keep it up!

  3. Hey Denise, as an English teacher candidate, I loved your lesson! The powerpoint was a great visual tool, although a handout to take away would have been more helpful. You got comfortable quickly and seemed confident. I also liked the worksheet.

  4. Hey Denise, great job! I thought your PowerPoint presentation was well done, and you did a fantastic job of organizing the rules on apostrophes. You overcame your initial nerves and taught a good lesson. As for suggestions, I’d say to be aware of how fast you’re talking. There were times where you sped through the material a little, but I’m pretty sure that was due to nerves. As you get more comfortable, I think the pacing will come naturally. Overall you did a great job, so keep up the good work!

  5. Denise, I thought your lesson was really great and I enjoyed the worksheet a lot. Your examples were well written and required us to have some real discussions about them in the group section. I do agree with everyone above about just making sure the students could take the rules with them so they can always reference it when they're writing. Otherwise, I think you did a great job.
